NetBeans Sunburst Color Theme

sunburst

I'm a long time TextMate lover who might just be turning into a NetBeans user. In my in-between-editors state I've ported the Sunburst TextMate theme to NetBeans so I feel more at home. As you can see above, it's a dark theme with a black background and some easter eggy colors mixed in for readability.

I've gone ahead and done HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript to the best of the syntax coloring abilities of Netbeans, so there's still some stuff that may be janky. Download it here.

Glad to help! There's still some obvious annoyances in it and I've been slowly improving the theme as I work with it and will have a new, slightly improved version up shortly.

I just switched to NetBeans from TextMate for a C++ project and am still getting used to it. As such, I am unsure how to install this color theme... the only way I saw to install plugins was to use a .nbm file and add it under plugins. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks.

hi, I cannot find any 'Import' button under Options > Fonts & Colours.

Jay (not verified) says:

what font are you using?

Zach (not verified) says:

It's on the bottom left of every preference pane tab, also make sure you're using Netbeans 6.7, I was on 6.5 the other day and I couldn't find it either.

Zach (not verified) says:

I like Bitstream Vera Sans Mono, size 11.

for NetBeans 6.5: copy the content of zip file to C:\Documents and Settings\YOU\.netbeans\6.5

Thanks for sharing Zach! This is a very nice color scheme. The only change I made on my configuration was to use Proggy Clean font, which is my favorite for programming.

Very nice theme! Thanks for sharing. I started using netbeans only today and having the right colours is one of the most important things to let me start working :)

I’m Zach, a Client-Side Engineer here. What does that mean? It means I’m responsible for all the fun stuff your browser (the blue “e” on your desktop) displays. I take those cutesy designs you love and turn them into something useable on the web. When I’m not crushing it at the Purple headquarters, you can find me scooting my bicycle around Downtown Orlando complaining about all of the cobblestone streets. I’ve got a computer-screen suntan, live directly above the railroad tracks, and get overly excited when Hulu alerts me about a new “30 Rock” episode.
